Healthy Hair: Learning To Love Your Hair
Time & Location
About the Event
Myavana one of Odihi's Partner is hosting our First of many series on "Healthy Hair" Workshop for our Black girls and women.
MYAVANA will host a virtual workshop to teach young Black girls and women how to love their crown, understand their unique hair texture, type, and condition, and develop a positive perception of self-esteem, self worth, & self-love - which are all factors in “feeling beautiful inside”
Through a group coaching session led by Hair Consultant & Master Cosmetologist Stacey Richards, we will help young girls and women understand how to best care for their hair, learn what is unique about their crown, and how to maintain optimal health and styles.
Through our consultations we’ve seen how young Black girls (and women alike) are sometimes faced with peer pressure and tasked with differentiating between “good vs. bad hair” (length, looks, styles). We know that nothing is “better than” it’s just different. Our objective will be to teach healthy hair practices but also show them how to think highly of themselves while deconstructing self-comparison. The participants will walk away with the right perception of “good hair” which is healthy hair, and see the beauty that lies inside and out.
Notes* Mother's are welcomed to come along with your daughters to take advantage of this session and learn new ways to care and love your hair together. Open to all of Odihi's members and new members - be sure to register your teens into our program or into our professionals women's group.
Space is limited to 25 participant to allow maximum value
