About the event

As Ibram Kendi said, "Advocate for discrimination to get equal opportunity."

As we celebrate Black History Month, we must remember that it goes beyond February, a black frame IG post and speaking without action. We invite our community members and allies to join us for this interactive workshop as we encourage each other to have an open dialogue that fosters a positive mindset and our willingness to take action to advocate for equal opportunities and help those who are disadvantaged, no matter their skin colour.  A discussion not only focused on race & racism but really on practicing rest and experiencing wellness as Black community members.

This workshop aims to create a safe and supportive gathering for participants to engage with one another and collectively dream up and reflect on what ‘liberation’ means in the context of ongoing systemic racism. Folks will be invited to examine how race and racism have shaped and continue to shape their lived experiences and worldviews. From there, we will share – through art and storytelling – the dreams we hold for ourselves, our communities, and our generations when we centre Black liberation, wellness, and rest.

Open to our BIWOC members and womxn allies.

This will be an in-person event with refreshments provided.

Led by our Workshop Facilitator and Anti-racism educator, Njoki.

Please donate what you can to help someone who can't afford to attend.
